ETIAS Requirements for Taiwanese travel to France

Taiwanese citizens traveling to France from 2026 onwards will be required to obtain travel authorization with the new ETIAS visa waiver system.

Taiwan (officially the Republic of China or ROC) currently enjoys visa exemption for the Schengen Area of Europe. This means that ROC citizens may travel to any of the member countries without a visa, including France.

The ETIAS, or European Travel Information and Authorisation System, is an upcoming additional entry requirement to visit the Schengen Area. It is based on the US ESTA.

The ETIAS will be necessary for nationals of visa-exempt countries like Taiwan to make short-term visits to France and the other Schengen member states. The ETIAS for France for Taiwanese citizens will be available via a simple online application form.

Once approved, it will be valid for several years and will permit multiple entries to the Schengen countries, including France. Each stay can last up to 90 days.

Travelers from the ROC will have to meet the ETIAS requirements for Taiwanese citizens in order to obtain this authorization to visit France.
