Requirements for South Koreans
If you are planning to travel to France after the end of 2022, however, please note that there will be a rehaul of the European Union visa policy, which includes France.
Travelers will be required to apply for a travel authorization called a European Travel Information and Authorization System authorization (or shorted to ETIAS). The process to apply for an ETIAS to visit France is quick and simple – you will only need 10 minutes of your time to fill out an online application and pay the fee.
The ETIAS authorization was developed to clamp down on terrorism by securing the borders of the European Union. This includes checking the traveler’s information against a central database to make a decision.
Your ETIAS will be valid for 3 years, and you can stay in the Schengen zone for a maximum of 90 days in a 180-day period.
ETIAS France Personal Information
The ETIAS application is simple and straightforward. It will ask for the traveler’s first name and last name, their passport information (passport number, issue and expiration date, nationality), and contact details (email, address, and phone number).
When filling out the application form, it is recommended to keep your passport nearby so that you can easily refer to it, especially for passport-related questions. Likewise, applicants should go through and check to make sure that all of the information they have entered on the form is correct. Inaccurate information can cause delays and a rejection of the ETIAS, which is why it is important to get it correct the first time.
Documents that I Need for France ETIAS
Before applying, please check and make sure that your South Korean passport is less than 10 years old, as any passports surpassing 10 years of age are not valid and cannot be used. Your passport must also be valid for at least 3 months past your intended period of stay in France, although we recommend having a longer validity just in case.
Medical Info for South Koreans
South Korean travelers who have ended up in a hospital may be asked to pay their medical bill before receiving treatment. However, do not worry: these costs will be reimbursed later through your travel insurance after you have filled out a “Feuille de Soins” (“treatment form”).
If you require medical treatment, you can reach the French emergency services operator by dialing 15 or 122.
ETIAS Application for France for South Koreans
In order to obtain an ETIAS, all South Koreans traveling to France must start by filling out an application form.
The application will only take you about 10 minutes to complete and is straightforward. When going through the application, you will need to fill out your personal details such as your first name, surname, and nationality; passport information, including your passport number, date of issue, and date of expiry; and contact information. There will also be a few questions pertaining to your previous travels and a few security-related questions. At the end of the application process, you will need to have a valid form of payment in order to pay the application fee.
All travelers should print a copy of the email containing their ETIAS approval so that they can show it to the border agent when entering the country.
The ETIAS authorization is for the purposes of tourism and conducting business. Likewise, the ETIAS is a multiple entry authorization, which means that you can travel in and out of the Schengen area as many times as you’d like.
