ETIAS France Requirements for Paraguayans

Peruvians traveling to France for short trips can do so without having to apply for a visa until 2026 thanks to the Visa Waiver Agreement between the European Union and Peru.

This visa-free condition that citizens of Peru enjoy when visiting the EU will carry an additional mandatory requirement when ETIAS France is fully implemented.

ETIAS stands for European Travel Information and Authorization System. This visa waiver online registration aims to increase security within the Schengen borders. ETIAS will also further the fight against terrorism in Europe.

To achieve this, ETIAS will pre-screen all passengers who currently travel to Europe without a visa against multiple security databases such as SIS, VIS, EURODAC, INTERPOL, EUROPOL, and the ETIAS Watchlist. This includes Peruvians visiting France, as well as travelers from another 59 countries.

ETIAS France for Peruvians will not reintroduce visa-like conditions. The ETIAS visa waiver for citizens of Peru traveling to France will be quick and easy to obtain.

In order to apply for an ETIAS to visit France, Peruvian citizens must fill out the application form with the following details:

  • Full name —exactly as it appears on the passport
  • Date of birth
  • Place of birth
  • Travel purpose
  • Country of passport
  • Passport date of issuance and expiration
  • Estimated arrival date to the Schengen Area
  • First Schengen country of arrival —the traveler may then visit all other Schengen countries once their ETIAS is approved

Next, applicants will be required to answer some basic security questions such as declaring whether they have a criminal record —applicants with a criminal record may still be eligible to apply for an ETIAS depending on the type of conviction and whether it is considered to pose a risk for the security and wellbeing of Europe.

Once the form is complete, the application form will prompt users to submit their payment information in order to finalize their ETIAS France request. Their application will then be processed.

The vast majority of ETIAS France applications should be approved within the first 24 hours. However, some may take slightly longer, so it is best to apply for an ETIAS France at least 3 business days prior to the traveler’s intended departure date towards Europe.

ETIAS remains electronically associated with the passport number used in the application form. The visa waiver cannot be transferred once it is approved, therefore, not carrying the exact passport the ETIAS was approved on can carry problems when arriving at border control.

Peruvian nationals traveling to France with underage children must apply for an ETIAS on behalf of their kids. This can be done by completing the application form with the child’s personal and passport information.

ETIAS holders from Peru are advised to have medical insurance that covers any healthcare needs that may arise during their stay. Although health insurance is currently not mandatory, it is good practice to have adequate coverage in order to have peace of mind when traveling —especially to a country where medical costs can be quite high.

Peruvian nationals who need to carry prescription medication during their stay in France —or the rest of the Schengen Area— should keep it in its original packaging along with the doctor’s prescription.
