France ETIAS Requirements for Moldovan Citizens
Moldovan citizens are currently able to visit France visa-free for short-term stays of up to 90 days. This will soon change with the introduction of the ETIAS, European Travel Information and Authorization System, which will become a mandatory travel requirement for eligible non-EU citizens.
The ETIAS will be valid for short-term stays in France and any of the Schengen Area states.
The ETIAS France visa waiver is expected to launch at the 2026, although an official date is not available yet.
ETIAS France: Travel Requirements from Trinidad & Tobago
The only entry requirement currently in place for Moldovan citizens visiting France is having a valid passport. Starting from 2026, Moldovans will also need to possess an approved ETIAS.
Travelling to France from Moldova with the ETIAS will be possible for short-term stays of up to 90 days within every 180 days.
Moldovan travellers will be able to spend this time in France or any other Schengen state, given that the ETIAS will not be country-specific.
For stays longer than 90-days or reasons such as employment or study in France, Moldovan citizens will likely require a visa. Travellers are encouraged to check additional visa requirements well ahead of their trip since some visas may take longer to process.
The ETIAS, however, will be mandatory regardless of the visa requirement. Travellers from Moldova with ETIAS will be able to visit France for tourism, business, transit, or even short-term study. Entry in France, or any other Schengen state, will be permitted via land, air, or sea.
The ETIAS will allow multiple entries in France over a validity period of 3 years from the date of approval. However, if the passport expires earlier than the ETIAS, the latter will also expire, and travellers will need to request a new one as soon as they have a new passport.
ETIAS to Visit France as a Moldovan National: Required Documents
The following are the required documents to obtain the ETIAS for France from Moldova:
- An eligible passport valid for at least three months from date of intended departure from France
- A credit or debit card to pay the ETIAS fee
- An email address to receive the approved ETIAS
It is also important to note that the Moldovan passport should not be older than 10 years when travelling with the ETIAS. Furthermore, the passport details on the ETIAS must match the ones on the passport travellers will use to enter France.
This is especially important for dual-passport holders, Moldovan citizens with another nationality, who must ensure they use the same document when applying for the ETIAS and when travelling to France.
