Requirements for Chileans

Starting in 2022, all Chilean travelers who wish to travel to France and the Schengen Zone countries will be required to apply for the European Travel Information and Authorization System authorization (ETIAS for short). The idea for France ETIAS for Chileans was originally developed in 2016 as a means to secure the borders of the European Union and protect countries from terrorism.
The ETIAS authorization is valid for three years and allows travelers to spend up to 90 days in any Schengen country (including France). Chileans traveling to France will be allowed to use their ETIAS for the purpose of tourism and business.
If you want to apply for an ETIAS to visit France, you will need to gather the necessary documents, fill out an application form and wait for an email confirming your approval. The process is quick and simple, and should take no more than 10 minutes. Here is what you need to know about the ETIAS.

The ETIAS France requirements for Chileans are very simple and only require one document in order to fill out the form.
The applicant’s Chilean passport must be valid for at least three months after the date they plan to depart France. Please note that any passport over 10 years old will not be accepted as a viable travel document and cannot be used to obtain an ETIAS and travel to France.

The application form will ask travelers some simple questions about themselves and their background. You will need to provide your personal information, passport information, contact details, and answer a few questions about your health and previous trips to Europe. The answers to these questions will then be checked against a database in order to pre-screen travelers and see if they are a security risk.
As a quick guide, all applicants will be asked about the following information:

Chileans who are traveling to France do not require any special vaccinations beforehand. However, it is recommended to check with your doctor just in case.
If you require medical treatment in France, you can easily reach the emergency services by dialing either 15 or 122. You will be connected to an operator who will help you.
It is recommended to obtain travel insurance before you leave home. Your insurance should include hospital visits, evacuations, and emergency services.
Brazilian travelers may be required by the hospital to pay their medical bill before they can receive the actual treatment for their problem. Do not worry, as these costs will be reimbursed later to you through your travel insurance after you have filled out a “Feuille de Soins” (translated to “treatment form”).

ETIAS Application for France

Chilean travelers will be happy to hear that they can receive an ETIAS authorization in only 10 minutes from the comfort of their own home. You will not need to visit a local embassy, have an interview with an immigration officer, or find a sponsor in France. Everything is quick and simple.
The first step is to start an online application. The ETIAS application takes about 10 minutes to fill out and asks a few questions regarding the personal information of the applicant.
Applicants will be asked to fill out their personal details (first name, last name, nationality), passport information (passport number, date of issue, date of expiry), and contact information. There will also be a few questions regarding your previous trips to
Europe and questions about your health. After you have finished the form, you will need to pay the application fee with a valid debit or credit card.
Travelers are recommended to print a copy of the email with their ETIAS authorization so that they can show it to the immigration officers when entering the country.
Chileans can use their ETIAS authorization for the purposes of tourism and business in France. However, it is not possible to use the ETIAS to work or travel, and you must apply for a different visa.
The France ETIAS for Chilean travelers has a validity of 3 years from the date of issue (or unless your Chilean passport expires, whichever comes first). The ETIAS is valid for a maximum of 90 days within a 180 day period.
