Requirements for Brazilians

France is the number one most visited country in the world for tourists and received over 89 million tourists in the past year.
In late 2022, however, there are some changes to France and its visa policy. In fact, it will be mandatory for Brazilian travelers to apply for the European Travel Information and Authorization System visa waiver (also known as the ETIAS). The ETIAS authorization has been developed to better secure the borders of the European Union countries borders and to cut down on terrorism.
The ETIAS will be used to travel to France and other Schengen countries. The ETIAS France for Brazilians will allow travelers to spend up to 90 days in France and any other Schengen country.

ETIAS France Personal Information

personal information

In order to apply for the ETIAS to visit France, Brazilian travelers will need to provide some personal information when filling out the online application form.

The information that is required includes the traveler’s full name (first and last name), passport information, and contact details. When filling out the application form, we recommend keeping your passport close by so that you can easily refer to it. Likewise, applicants should go through and double-check all of the information they have entered on the form and make sure that it is correct. Otherwise, inaccurate information can cause delays and a rejection of the ETIAS.

Documents that I Need for France ETIAS

There are only a handful of ETIAS France requirements for Brazilian applicants. The only document that you will need in order to apply for the authorization is your Brazilian passport.

Please make sure that your Brazil-issued passport is no older than 10 years old, as it will not be valid. Likewise, your Brazilian passport must be valid for at least 3 months past the intended period of stay in France (and the Schengen Area, if you plan to travel further).

Medical Info for Brazilians

Although France has a high level of healthcare, it is important to note that medical treatment in France, especially for travelers, can quickly add up and become expensive. Before leaving the country, we recommend getting travel insurance that has comprehensive coverage that includes, at a minimum, hospital visits, evacuations, and emergency services.

medical information
Brazilian travelers may be required to pay their medical bill before receiving the actual treatment. However, these costs will be reimbursed later through your travel insurance by filling out a “Feuille de Soins” (translated as “treatment form”).

If you require medical treatment, you can easily reach French emergency services by dialing 15 or 122.

ETIAS Application for France for Brazilian citizens

In order to obtain an authorization, all Brazilians traveling to France will need to fill out the online ETIAS application form.

The application takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete and requires only a few pieces of information from the applicant. On the form, you will need to fill out your personal details (first name, last name, nationality), passport information (passport number, date of issue, date of expiry), and contact information. At the end of the application, you will need to have a valid credit or debit card to pay the ETIAS application fee.

We recommend using a valid email address on the application form. This is crucial because all ETIAS notifications will be sent to the specified email address. It is also recommended that travelers print a hard copy of the email containing their ETIAS approval so that they can show it to the French immigration control when entering the country.

The France ETIAS for Brazilian travelers will have a validity of 3 years from the date of issue, unless your Brazilian passport expires first. The ETIAS is a multiple entry visa, which means that you can travel in and out of the Schengen area as many times as you would like as long as it is under a total of 90 days.

Travelers can use their ETIAS authorization for the purposes of tourism and conducting business. However, you cannot use your ETIAS to work or study in France, and you will need to obtain a different visa for these activities.
